Planting Day – 500 sage, 200 lavender

I put the above picture first in this post because it shows the almost dizzying kaleidoscope feeling of looking at 700 plants, ready to be placed in the ground.

We had made several trips to the nursery yesterday to pick up the flats and it we were so happy that it had rained overnight. The ground was perfect and the sun shone today so we didn’t get soaked while working.

We had a lot of wonderful helpers today — Thank You to EVERYBODY! I suspect that for every sage or lavender planted, probably ten thistles were pulled.

And, when were were finished, things looked almost as they had before because the new plants are pretty much hidden in the hay. But we know they will grow tall and make a beautiful border for the labyrinth pathway.
