Back from the trip of a lifetime.

September 29, 2012

North America, East to West…. Diverse and amazing! Starting in Nova Scotia, we worked our way through Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Quebec — then crossed the US through over 20 states: Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon and finally Washington. We revisited old friends, encountered new people and had first meetings with people we’ve only previously known online (including family members.)

Los Alamos to Las Vegas — “Anne of Green Gables” to Mark Twain’s home to “Little House on the Prairie” — “support our troops” diners to California surfer coffee houses — Amish communities in Pennsylvania to missile launching sites in Nevada — art in countless forms, nature in countless forms, wild horses to Cirque du Soleil to cave dwellings — the Grand Canyon, a meeting of 50,000 motorbike enthusiasts, acres and acres of drought corn and acres and acres AND ACRES of cattle in feed lots (an indescribable smell)…. I can’t begin to name the extremes and/or the subtle things we saw, especially in this short post of first impressions.

So, I’ll be writing more and posting more pictures and I will take the time to reflect. There was an incredible amount of beauty and infinite things to learn about people, places and their history.

We give our unending thanks to the many people who were wonderful to us along the way!

Google maps seems unable to put the whole thing on one map 🙂

First part of trip

second part of trip

NOTE: These maps are approximate. I.e. It was near New Holland PA where we camped in Pennsylvania and the map above doesn’t show us there — there are probably many other errors as well, but the general path is correct!
